New Single Commercial Unit

The step-by-step guide below gives you all the information you need when applying for a connection to a new single commercial or industrial unit.

If your premises is not stand-alone, but is part of a multi-unit development in a business park, read more about moving into new multi-unit premises.

Step by Step Guide

You need an ordnance survey map (scale 1:2500-1:10560) showing the location of your new unit/premise. Mark the location of your new premises with a red pen.

You will also need a detailed site plan (scale 1:100-1:500) showing your new premises.

Your builder or architect should be able to provide you with both of these. Photocopies are acceptable.

Apply by post. Download the New Connection or Increased/Reduced Capacity (MIC) Application (NC3) (PDF | 488 KB) or call 1850 372 757 or +353 21 2386555 to request a copy.

Once we have received both payment and the Connection Agreement, we can start construction work on the electricity infrastructure required for your premises. The connection process will differ depending on the size of your MIC.

For MIC of 29 kVA or less

The registered Electrical Contractor who is certifying the electrical wiring in your premises must send the ETCI wiring certificate to his/her regulatory body quoting your MPRN and address. It will then be automatically sent to us. Read about the certification process

.

For MIC 30kVA or more

The first thing to do is register with an Electricity Supplier of your choice.

When contacting a supplier you will need to give details of your MPRN number and the address of your premises.

Please note that the registered Electrical Contractor who is certifying the electrical wiring in your premises, must send the ETCI wiring certificate to his/her regulatory body quoting your MPRN and address before your connection can be turned on.

Once we have completed the infrastructure work and all of the above requirements have been met, your new connection can be live.

Your electrical contractor is then responsible for turning on the power in your new premises.
