ESB Networks and contractor crews and continue to prioritise power restoration in Connemara and West Mayo, where areas of the network have been without supply since heavy snowfall in the early hours of Thursday morning.
A concerted effort is still being made in the broad areas of Clifden, Carraroe, Lettermore , Recess, Screeb and Achill Island. Significant additional crews been deployed, including ESB Network crews and partner contractors who have travelled from less impacted areas of the country to assist in the restoration effort. Work will continue late into the night. However, there may be isolated pockets of customers who will be still without supply tonight and crews will mobilise once again at first light tomorrow morning to complete repairs.
The prolonged restoration efforts are due to the extent of the damage in the worst impacted areas and the challenging working conditions still being experienced by our crews. These restoration efforts have been further hampered by the onset of Storm Bert overnight.
We appreciate the adverse impact that these prolonged outages have had on family and commercial life and we are doing everything we can to restore power to as many customers as possible tonight.
Real-time status on power restoration is being updated regularly and is available on www.PowerCheck.ie and www.ESBNetworks.ie. Estimated Restoration Times have shifted and become more accurate as damage at fault sites are assessed and resources allocated to each repair.
An Important Public Safety Message: If you come across fallen wires or damaged electricity network, never, ever touch or approach these as they may be LIVE and extremely dangerous. Please report any damage to electricity infrastructure by calling 1800 372 999.
