• CRU recently published a Consultation Document from ESB Networks titled “Demand Flexibility Product Proposal”.  This consultation seeks views from industry on ESB Networks’ proposed plan to procure up to 500MW of medium-term flexibility products. Medium term can be taken to mean the ability to deliver demand reduction or inject peak power at or near their full contracted capacity for a minimum of 4 hours each day for 3-6 months a year.

The Dingle Project assessed the role of localised initiatives such as the Ambassador Programme and the electric vehicle trial, in supporting wider diffusion of technology and active energy citizen behaviours across the local community. This report also suggests a template for engaging and empowering communities towards low carbon transformation which could be explored in other areas and communities beyond Dingle.

The purpose of this “Expression of Interest (EOI) for Radical Innovation Project Ideas” is to encourage our stakeholders to provide input and ideas in the radical space to add to our existing portfolio of ESB Networks Innovation projects. This is to support our target for 5% radical projects across ESB Networks innovation portfolio.

This document provides an opportunity to:

• Provide your input and ideas on radical innovation projects to add to our existing ESB Networks Innovation portfolio.
• Provide a background to the call and details the portfolio split of innovation projects across the 3 broad horizons of innovation: Incremental, Breakthrough and Radical.
• Give an overview of Innovation in ESB Networks across our 3 Innovation Pillars; Climate Action, Future Customer and Network Resilience.
