Information about the Distribution System Operator

  • ESB Networks DAC, a ringfenced subsidiary within ESB Group, is the licensed Distribution System Operator (DSO) for Ireland.
  • Staff in the ESB Networks business unit carry out ESB Networks DAC's functions as DSO, in addition to the functions of ESB as the licensed Transmission Asset Owner (TAO) and Distribution Asset Owner (DAO) for Ireland (under the management of ESB Networks DAC).
  • The Freedom of Information Act 2014 applies only to ESB Networks DAC in its capacity as the DSO.
