Before you begin

If you need to get a new electricity connection for your farm, you first need to find out the size of the electrical load you require. Your electrical contractor helps you acquire this information. Then select one of the options below.

Please make sure you adhere to Safe Electric regulations regarding farm supplies. Contact your electrical contractor for further information.

Getting connected

Electrical loads of 29 kVA (29 kW) or less

Examples of premises that typically use loads of 29kVA or less include storage sheds for farm machinery, workshops (without welding equipment) or pump houses. These loads are treated the same as a domestic connection.

Electrical loads 30 kVA (30kW) or more

Examples of farm premises that typically use loads of 30kVA or more are milking parlours, workshops with welding equipment or a medium/large cottage industry. These loads are treated the same as single commercial unit connections.
