'Is This a Good Time?' campaign
- In October 2022 ESB networks launched 'Is This a Good Time?' – to help empower all electricity customers, regardless of their electricity supplier, to take control of their home's electricity usage by providing them with relevant and timely information.
- Over 26,000 electricity customers signed up, helping to support Ireland's security of supply and help reduce our reliance on fossil fuels.
Ways to sign up to 'Is This a Good Time?'
I already have an ESB Networks online account:
- If you already have an ESB Networks online account, simply login
Once logged in, please click on the 'time for rewards' icon and complete the online form.
I do not already have an ESB Networks online account:
- First, you’ll need to create one, simply visit ESB networks online account.
- When signing up, make sure you have your MPRN to hand. Adding your MPRN means you’ll be able to earn rewards. For details on how to find your MPRN, click here
- Once you’ve created your account, simply click here to login to your account. When logged in, click on the 'time for rewards' icon and fill in the online form.
By signing up:
- You’ll get useful information and tips by email and SMS to help you learn how to take control of your home's electricity usage.
- You’ll also find when the best times are to use your electrical appliances (i.e. outside of peak hours of 5pm to 7pm or when renewable electricity is being generated).
- Earn digital eGift cards for taking control when you receive an energy event notification.

What is 'Is This a Good Time?' about?
- In October 2022 ESB Networks launched the 'Is This a Good Time?' pilot to help empower all electricity customers, regardless of their electricity supplier, to take control of their home's electricity usage by providing them with relevant and timely information.
- Over 26,000 electricity customers all over the country signed up and took more than 40,000 actions to help support Ireland's security of supply and help reduce our reliance on fossil fuels.
What can participants expect after signing up?
- After a customer has signed up to the programme via their ESB Networks Online Account, they will begin to receive regular email and text messages providing them with simple tips and information on how they can take control of their home's electricity consumption.
- From time-to-time, customers will be asked to take part in energy events in which they will be asked to take a recommended action during certain times and can earn rewards for taking part.
What are energy events?
Energy events come as two different types of events:
- Peak Events: times when we may ask you to take control to help support Ireland's security of supply.
- Flexibility events: times when there is surplus renewable energy to take advantage of, or also times when there is less renewable energy available.
