Pay As You Go Meters

You have entered an incorrect code and need to erase it by pressing the * key.

Bring your Pay As You Go Card or keypad number to your nearest Payzone or PayPoint outlet and top up with the amount you require.

Look for shops with the Payzone or PayPoint signs or contact your electricity supplier.

A Pay As You Go Meter is a meter where you buy your credit and load it into your meter prior to using your electricity.

When you are away from home standing charges and other charges will continue to be deducted from your meter credit. Please ensure that you have enough credit on the meter to maintain supply until you return.

This means that communication has broken down between the customer keypad and the meter. Try plugging it into another socket.

The Top-Up code has been entered previously. The meter will not allow the same code to be entered more than once. If you press 4 you can see the last 5 codes entered.

You have left out a number or entered the Top Up Code too slowly please start again.

Emergency credit is designed to give you time to purchase a Top-Up.The meter will automatically disconnect the electricity when the credit runs out. Please note that your meter will not disconnect during "friendly Credit" times.

1. Press the * button on the keypad. The message KEYCODE will be displayed. 
2. Enter the full Top-Up code, followed by # Key. 

Note: If you enter any number incorrectly, you can erase it by pressing the * key.

When a valid code is entered on the meter "Accepted" will appear on the display.

Your price plan has changed and the meter is looking for a 40 digit code to be entered. Please contact your electricity supplier if you do not have this code. Wait until this message clears, press the * button and then enter the special tariff change code.

When your credit reduces to €2 a low volume alarm will sound for 2 minutes.

To silence the alarm press any button on the Keypad. When your credit reduces to €0 the low volume alarm will sound again for 2 minutes before disconnecting your supply (but not during "Friendly Credit" times).

If this happens press the 0 button and your supply will come back on. You will automatically receive €5 Emergency Credit. Any Emergency Credit used will be paid back out of your next top-up.

This means there's something wrong. Call us on 1800 372 999 or +353 21 2382410 to log a call out.

The meter has received the maximum credit and can not accept another Top-Up code at this time.

This means that the code has been entered incorrectly five times. Wait until the message clears and then enter the correct code.

Yes, an ESB Networks' Meter Reader will still call to read the main meter.

A Pay As you Go Meter has two parts - a main meter which replaces your existing meter and a keypad which you use to top up your credit. It comes with a unique pin number which you'll need to make payments. Your pin number will be posted to you in an Information Pack when a Pay As You Go meter has been requested by your Electricity Supplier.

The Top Up Code has been accepted by your meter.

The Top-Up code entered was incorrect or the meter is not in Pay As You Go mode.
