At ESB Networks, we’ve been making new connections, building a network that’s stronger than ever and connecting our customers to a clean electric future. 

On 30th September we launched our trial on a new, streamlined Small Scale Generation Connection Process. This will enable more of our customers to safely and easily connect electricity generators up to 200kW to the electricity network. 

The new Small Scale Generation process is initially being launched on a trial basis in line with Ireland’s 2030 Climate Action Plan. Feedback and learnings from the trial will be used to inform the enduring process. The introduction of this new streamlined process follows on from the very successful Mini-Generation Connection Process which was launched in 2021. Together, these new services will ensure that it is now even simpler for more of our customers, who generate their own renewable electricity, to safely connect and export their excess electricity to the local electricity network and therefore play a more active part in connecting Ireland to a clean electric future.
