Issued: 5:15 pm on Monday 6 January 2025

ESB Networks crews and partner contractors have continued to make progress through today to restore power to thousands of customers impacted by snow- and ice-related outages on Sunday.

As of 5:15pm, approximately 17,000 homes, farms and businesses remain without power.  The most impacted counties include Kerry, Limerick and Tipperary, where local crews and partner contractors have been bolstered with ESB Networks teams from less impacted areas of the country.

With a Met Éireann low temperature warning in place for the rest of the week, we anticipate power restoration will continue for a number of days in the worst affected areas. This is due to the hazardous weather conditions and challenges faced by our restoration teams when safely accessing fault sites on snow- and ice-covered roads and terrain.

ESB Networks wishes to acknowledge the support of local authority teams, agricultural contractors, as well as Defence Forces personnel, who have been assisting us in accessing more challenging fault sites.

We acknowledge the disruption to family and commercial life this causes and thank impacted customers, especially those who will remain without power over the coming days, for their patience as our crews work to safely restore power.

Real-time information on power outages are continually being updated on www.PowerCheck.ie  as damage assessments at each fault site are completed. We advise customers to sign up for our “Keep me Updated” service for power outages on www.PowerCheck.ie to receive SMS or email updates directly.

An Important Public Safety Message: If you come across fallen wires or damaged electricity network, never, ever touch or approach these as they are LIVE and extremely dangerous. Note that some fallen wires may be under snow and not immediately visible. Please report any damage to electricity infrastructure by calling 1800 372 999.
