3 Tips to remember:
- Always look out and look up when working near overhead electricity wires.
- Never undertake any construction activity within 10 metres of an overhead electricity wire.
- Never dump soil or rubble or stack any material underneath an overhead electricity wire. This reduces the safe distance between the wire and the ground.

Code of Practice for Avoiding Danger from Overhead Electricity Lines
In consultation with HSA and other stakeholders, ESB Networks has revised and updated the Code of Practice for Avoiding Danger from Overhead Electricity Lines. The new Code of Practice is effective from 1st May 2019. It replaces and revokes the original code of Practice which has been in place since 2008.
